Scott Lerner is a trial lawyer specializing in complex commercial litigation, class actions, investigations, corporate crises, and other disputes. He has a particular focus on sports-related disputes, representing professional athletes, coaches, sports franchises, team owners, event organizers, apparel companies, sports charities, sports unions, and iGaming organizations. Before joining White & Case, Scott represented the United States Soccer Foundation in high-stakes trademark and copyright litigation against the United States Soccer Federation. He also represented MLB All-Stars Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman in a defamation case against a media company over false doping allegations and in a related MLB investigation that cleared them of wrongdoing. Scott has extensive experience leading internal investigations and culture reviews for sports franchises following workplace misconduct allegations. Beyond his sports practice, he regularly represents media companies in commercial disputes involving intellectual property and broadband spectrum. Before his private practice career, Scott worked at the NFL Players Association, where he was part of the legal team during the NFL's 2011 lockout and union decertification. He represented numerous NFL players in labor and contract disputes and worked on return-to-play guidelines for players with traumatic brain injuries.
