Luis Montero is CEO of global creative agency the community—the growth partner for culturally
ambitious brands. For more than 25 years, Luis has helped leading brands in the U.S., Latin America, and
Europe forge meaningful connections with their most important audiences through creative communications and brand experiences. Since joining the community in 2013, Luis has been a strong advocate for culturally reflective brand-building, helping the agency secure long-term partnerships with brands like Verizon, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Walmart, among others. Under his leadership, the community has grown to 200+ communitarians, expanded its footprint to a global network across continents, and won some of the industry’s most prestigious awards. Some of those awards include being selected as both the Adweek and Ad Age Multicultural Agency of Year during the 2024 award season, as well as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2022, Adweek’s Fastest Growing Companies of 2019, Campaign’s Top 25 agencies of the last 50 years, and, including the 2025 Ad Age Standout recognition, being honored in Ad Age’s A-List 10 times over the last 13 years. In addition to his work role leading the community, Luis is also a board member for the 4As (the American Association of Advertising Agencies), which is a national trade association that represents and advocates for the advertising agency industry and The History Makers, a national 501© non-profit committed to preserving and making widely accessible the personal stories of African Americans. In addition, Luis is also a founding partner and board member of Plural, a minority owned and certified content production company and joint venture with Publicis Groupe. Before joining the community, Luis was a Partner at The Montero Group (TMG), a strategic consultancy focused on helping Latin American and European companies enter and build their brands in the U.S. Prior to MG, he was SVP & Managing Director at Jack Morton Worldwide, a global brand experience agency in the IPG network, where he also founded and ran its U.S. multicultural business unit. Prior to that Luis began his career on the brand-side, with roles at The Coca-Cola Company in the U.S. and Latin America, as well as at The Walt Disney Company. He is a graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. In addition to his professional experiences, Luis is a passionate writer and screenwriter having spent time in Los Angeles early in his career writing and marketing his stories. Born in Atlanta to a Cuban mother and Spanish father, Luis has lived and conducted business in more than 10 countries and speaks Spanish fluently. When not in the office, Luis lives on Delta Airlines and in Atlanta, Georgia and is focused on being a loving husband to his wife Mary, and a loving father to daughter Lucia and son Diego
