Yvette Peña is a dedicated advocate for all communities, particularly those within the evolving demographics of the United States. Her passion for giving back and creating opportunities to develop communities is deeply ingrained in her. With over 20 years of experience as an award-winning marketer and community advocate, she specializes in growth markets and general audience initiatives, putting her heart into her work—her "heartwork."
As the Vice President of Audience Strategy at AARP, Yvette leads nationwide strategies for Hispanic/Latino and People with Disabilities audiences, while also driving cross-audience initiatives. She makes a national impact through digital efforts, media, targeted campaigns, and external partnerships, all aimed at advancing AARP’s social impact agenda. Her work focuses on educating, informing, and strengthening connections among staff, volunteers, members, other organizations, and diverse local communities.
Yvette is committed to expanding AARP initiatives that empower older adults from diverse communities in the United States to choose how they live as they age. Public service has been a cornerstone of her career, with mentoring and serving various communities as a priority. She is a member of the Latinas & Power Advisory Council, dedicated to promoting Latina success and unity, and serves on the COLLAGE Consumer Advisory Board. In 2024, she was honored as one of ALPFA’s 50 Most Powerful Latinas, an accolade revealed during the Women of ALPFA at L’Attitude.
A native New Yorker and proud Afro-Latina of Dominican heritage, Yvette cherishes time with her family and lifelong friends. She currently resides in Washington, D.C., and Florida with her husband, Lazaro.
